River Fest 2014
July 29 - August 3, Downtown Skowhegan
River Fest 2014 is a multi-day event that celebrates recreation and life on the Kennebec River. It's sponsored by Skowhegan Savings, and organized by Main Street Skowhegan, Skowhegan Savings, Skowhegan Chamber of Commerce, Run of River committee. It illustrates the potential of the Kennebec River Gorge as a recreational destination, currently under development by the Run of River Project. Lion's Club Chicken BBQ

The long-running and popular chicken barbecue hosted by the Lion's Club is back again this year! Meal tickets cost $11 and include one half barbequed chicken using the Lions special recipe, cole slaw, chips, roll and butter, bottled water, and whoopie pie.

Hosted by the Skowhegan Parks and Recreation Department, teams of 5 compete head-to-head by pushing beds on caster wheels down Water Street. To register, download this form and return it to the Recreation Department or call them at 474-6901.

14th Annual Sundowner Canoe and Kayak Race

Bart from Southside Tavern annually organizes this recreational, 3-mile race for kayaks and canoes. Most participants get a prize!

Skowhegan Rotary Club 30th Annual Lobster Bake

Single lobster meal $14, double lobster meal $24, hamburger meal $8, hotdog meal $5. Each meal comes with corn, coleslaw, role, cookie, and a drink. Tickets are available for purchase at the Skowhegan Area Chamber of Commerce, Hammond Lumber, Key Appliance, or from your favorite Rotarian. Tickets may also be purchased at the tent.

All River Fest events happen in and near downtown Skowhegan, where US Routes 2 and 201 come together. From I-95 North or South, take exit 133 toward Skowhegan/Fairfield and follow US Route 201 north into downtown Skowhegan.
